Showcasing relevant projects and industry experiences

Undergraduate Project

I, along with my partner assigned in this project,Sakibul Hasan Nahid, designed a 2000 DWT oil tanker that is intended to be operated on the inland waterways of Bangladesh. This project was undertaken in the fulfillment of the requirement for the passing NAME 338(Ship Design Project and Presentation).

Indusry Experience

Chittagong Dry Dock Limited Is the only dry-dock currently operating in Bangladesh. The dock is a state-owned ship repairing facility. It is operated under the jurisdiction of Bangladesh Navy. I was assigned to this industry for a month-long industrial attachment program called “NAME 435: Shipyard Practice”. The training includes lessons and field experience about industrial practices, engineering project management and product fabrication processes. There we got to meet the engineering professionals who are currently in practice both from design and fabrication team. Furthermore, we got the opportunity to talk to the foreman and other technicians about field-knowledge on their relevant field. We were regularly taken to visit the Machine Shop, Welding Shop and other facilities that the dry-dock has to offer. We were also taught about some specific industrial practices related to shipbuilding and ship-repairing process, namely, “Sand Blasting”, “Non Destructive Test”, “Priming and Coating”, “Overhauling” and so on. The training ended with facing a viva board consisting faculty members, engineers from CDDL and our mentors who guided us throughout the training.
I have scored a 4.0/4.0 on this course.
